John Kevin McKeown
Beloved elder son of John Joseph “Jack” McKeown and Helen Clare McKay, both originally of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2016, at the Prescott-Russell Residence in Hawkesbury, Ontario, at the age of 84.
John is survived by his brother, Brian (Linda Svendsen) of Vancouver, nephews Jesse McKeown (Marthe Bernard) of Los Angeles, California and Gabriel McKeown of Vancouver and his niece, Kathleen McKeown also of Vancouver. And John will be sorely missed by his step-nephew, Christian Parker, of Vancouver.
John resided in Hawkesbury almost all of his life and worked at the Canadian International Paper Company sulphite mill until it closed in 1982.
He was very well-known in the town. He touched many lives and many people call him their friend. Brian, Mike, the boys and I will never forget our pal John. We shared some great laughs together, and he taught me some very important life lessons. I am truly blessed to have been able to call John my friend. Love to you and yours, Brian... Sara, Mike, Declan, Owen and Séamus

My deepest sympathy to Brian and family in John's passing. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the service at St. Jude's. Would have liked to see you again after so many years. I have fond memories of your Mom Helen, and my frequent encounters with John especially at the restaurant. Notwithstanding John's good humour, I know he was a shy person, very private, and a good soul. May he rest in peace. I will have a mass for him at St. Jude's when our parish priest returns in Feb. I am sure you will miss him very much. Again I am sorry for your loss.
