DEATH NOTICE
Mrs. Dorothy Veda Davidson nee Abbott of Hawkesbury passed away peacefully on Sunday April 17th, 2016 at the Prescott-Russell Residence, in Hawkesbury, Ontario, in her 93rd year.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon William Petrie Davidson;
the daughter of the late Ernest Edward Abbott and the late Veda Lilian Luke
the dear mother of Joanne Davidson (Wayne Jury), the late Susanne Helen Davidson Sheldon (Bill Sheldon), James William Gordon Davidson (Gisele St. Amour), and Michael Edward Davidson;
the loving grandmother of John William Sheldon (Jing Wu), Katherine Ann Sheldon, Andrew Gordon Wesley Sheldon, Veronica Anne Davidson Dickie (Curtis Dickie), Justin James Davidson (Alicia Marie Ida Popp), Gabrielle Emilie Davidson, Dominique Camille Davidson and the proud great grandmother of Summer Charlene Anne and Jacob Michael Davidson.
She is survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Dorothy Veda Abbott was born in Toronto on August 15, 1922 and grew up with her slightly younger brother, Bill. She married Gordon William Petrie Davidson on May 9, 1945. They started their family and later moved to Montreal with their four children in the mid-fifties to enable Gordon to take on a job with Alcan. They raised their family on Montreal’s west island in Beaconsfield where Dorothy was very active in the Scouting and Guide movement, and operated a home-based sewing business. They retired to L’Orignal, Ontario, in 1984, after building a beautiful home together that they designed. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years on August 10, 1993.
The family invites you to join them at the Berthiaume Family Funeral Home, 416 McGill Street, Hawkesbury, Ontario (877) 632-8511, on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 from 1:30 p.m.
A celebration of her life will be held in the funeral home Chapel at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to the Prescott-Russell Residence, 1020 Cartier Blvd, Hawkesbury, ON K6A 1W7.
The compassionate and caring support and assistance of the residence staff were so very much appreciated by the family, especially in recent months.
