DEATH NOTICE
FEHÉR, GÁBOR NIKOLAUS (Nick)
Departed on his journey home, back to his source, His Creator's Light, on June 9th, 2016 in Hawkesbury, Ontario at the age of 70. Born in war-torn Europe on July 12th, 1945 to Dr. Kálmán Fehér LLD, and Ilona, nee Szabados of Szeged, Hungary, he arrived in Canada at age 12. Three years later, he started working full-time in a steel manufacturing factory while attending night-school. He served in the Marine Corps, and, following his honorable discharge, began a life-long relationship with flying at the Canadair Field in Cartierville, Quebec. He flew in the Canadian Bush where he also owned and operated his one-man band air-service as pilot and engineer. He joined the airlines in 1973 and retired from Air Canada as a Boeing B-767 captain in the fall of 2004. He continued to fly his Piper Supercub for pleasure while writing his treatise, "Beyond Stick-and-Rudder," which he published in 2013.
He is survived by his spouse Dr. Heléna Mihalovits MD; son Dr. James Fehér MD (Maria); daughter Peggy Fehér COT (Hebb); his first spouse and his children's mother, Diane Caissie; five grandchildren: Matthieu Pharand (Karine), Martin Pharand, Ethan Fehér, Kristopher Fehér, Emilie Cardinal; brother, Kálmán (Lorraine); sister, Catherine; as well as many nieces and nephews.
His mottos were:
"It is not necessary to believe: it is only
necessary to know. Uplifting knowledge is the
greatest gift a man can have."
"Ask not for your load to be lightened, but
rather, for the strength to bear it. We are
always granted that gift."
"Fear not what evil can do to you. In things
that matter, it's powerless. But do guard
against what it can turn you into."
Funeral details were entrusted to Berthiaume Family Funeral Home, 416, McGill, Hawkesbury, Ontario, (877) 632-8511.
A religious funeral service will be held at Saint-Joachim church, 1994 Front Road, Chute-à-Blondeau on June 16th at 2 p.m. The family will be present from 1:30 p.m. to receive your condolences.
