DEATH NOTICE
Mr. Ralph Ellis from Hawkesbury passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the age of 94.
He was the beloved husband of the late Hélène Plouffe;
the son of the late Albert Edward Ellis and of the late Jean Brindle;
the loving father of Wayne (Louise Charette) and Steven (Sophie);
the adored grandfather of Brett, Morgan and Ryan;
the dear brother of Clayton (late Evelyn) and William (Yolande).
He was predeceased by a sister Jean.
He is survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephew, nieces and friends.
Friends may call at Berthiaume Family Funeral Home 416, McGill, Hawkesbury, Ontario (877) 632-8511, Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 10 a.m. A celebration will follow in the funeral home Chapel at 1 p.m.
For those who wish, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, 40 Ruskin, Ottawa, Ont., K1Y 4W7 would be appreciated.

Ralph was my bus driver for one year in high school, I helped him out on his rural mail routes, he drove me to work before I got my first car, and he was an esteemed colleague on the L'Orignal town council for several years. Ralph was a great man and our postman on Ste Anne Road for years sometimes he allowed us to join him on his mail route during the winter school holidays with Bobby Billy and Jacky. Great souvenirs and a few stories. Often a big cigar in his mouth and always a big smile. My condolences to the family.

Deepest sympathy to Ralph's children, grandchildren, siblings and family and friends. I was taken back to some of my happiest childhood memories when hearing of Ralph's passing. He truly loved children and always made those bus rides to school so much fun. I remember listening to rousing Sousa marches as Ralph whistled along in between puffs on his ever present cigar. Then there were the mail routes when we piled into the back of Ralph's pickup, bouncing along the rural roads, and jumping out to run and drop off the mail deliveries! I'll especially never forget the elaborate hoax that he completely fooled me with and that provided years of laughter after I was able to forgive him for taking advantage of my girlish obsession with Richard Boone. Have Gun Will Travel, Ralph!!

I was so sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. He contributed to many happy memories from my childhood. My siblings and I looked forward to Saturday mornings and crowding into Ralph's station wagon to deliver the mail, especially being rewarded with curds from Fraser's cheese factory afterwards. Getting ferried to school each day was fun,and the day the bus seat had to be disassembled because I had somehow managed to get my knee stuck, there was never an unkind word spoken. Just laughter and understanding. Ralph cared for children and he will always be fondly remembered. Please accept my sincere condolences.
