Mrs. Louise Bruley (nee Cochrane) of Hawkesbury passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 25th, 2021 at the age of 80.
Louise was a teacher, nurturer, believed in serving her community, had powerful faith and a soul generated by love.
She was the beloved wife of Albert Bruley;
the daughter of the late Terence Cochrane and of the late Florence Groleau;
the cherished mother of the late David (Lori), Peter (Cheryl), Annette and Robert;
the loving grandmother of Brahms, Nichole, Grace, Joey, Jackie, Heather, Ashley, Mary, Therese and Tabatha;
the great-grandmother of Daisy, Rosie and Bernadette-Louise;
the dear sister of Joyce (John), Francine (Vern), Caroll (Richard) and Patrick.
She is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone from the Cornwall Hospice as well as Dr. Di Cintio for the amazing care and attention that Louise received.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Berthiaume Family Funeral Home, 416, McGill Street, Hawkesbury, Ontario (877) 632-8511.
Because of new COVID-19 restrictions the service will be reserved for the immediate family only. Born in Hawkesbury 1941, married in 1963, Louise spent her first years of marriage in Syracuse, NY where she helped put Albert through his Masters and where they had their first born. They moved to Thunder Bay in 1965 where they had their remaining three children. Louise taught English and French at Hillcrest High School, Confederation College and Hammarskjold High School, all the while studying at Lakehead University to earn her Bachelor of Education and Masters in Education. She eventually left her teaching job to work for the Ministry of Education and in 1988 moved to Toronto with her family after receiving a promotion. After retiring in 1996, her and Albert returned to Hawkesbury, then jumped over to Belle River in 2008, and came back to Hawkesbury in May of 2021.
Louise loved cooking and entertaining people, always experimenting and trying new recipes. She had a competitive edge in anything she was challenged to; especially in Bridge and she was ruthless when playing Gin Rummy with her children…no mercy! She enjoyed the arts, the English language and the power of the written word. She rejoiced in singing and was a member of her parish choirs and choral groups that visited senior homes. Community service came naturally to her and she was an active member in her parishes, volunteered for causes close to her heart, and organized fundraisers for the same. She loved laughing and teasing, especially with her three sisters. She had a weakness for “nice things” and always made sure she and her family looked well put together and had a nice home. Her best friend was her husband Albert and they were a strong team through thick and thin over 58 years of marriage (they were also pretty darn cute together!) Traveling brought her great pleasure but visiting her children, and grandchildren who resided throughout North America was at the top of her list. Her family and legacy, especially in her final days brought her an immense amount of joy.
Louise at heart was everyone’s mother and cheerleader. She felt your pain, she worried about you, offered great advice and celebrated your victories. She was a woman of unbreakable faith and had an unending supply of love for everyone. She gracefully accepted her fate in sickness, experienced great joy in her final days, and passed away peacefully. She will be dearly missed but we believe she’s still joyfully watching over all of us.
For those who wish, donations to the Cornwall Hospice, 1507 Second Street W., Cornwall, Ontario K6J 1J5 or (https://carefor.ca/donate/?fund=7) , would be appreciated.
