DEATH NOTICE
Thomas Murphy Sr., of Ottawa, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 60.
He was the beloved son of the late Michael Murphy (1993) and of Evelyn Murphy (née Levesque); cherished father of Thomas Jr.; and dear brother of Mary Jo, Michael (Linda), Maureen (George), the late Joseph (2016) (Nicole), Kelly (late Guy), John, Billy (Gerry-Lynn), and Kathleen (Bruce).Thomas is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.
A service will take place in private.
For those who wish, donations to the Ottawa Mission or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be greatly appreciated, as these causes were very close to Thomas’s heart.
Thomas was a kind and gentle soul, remembered especially at Christmastime for his warmth, generosity, and his white beard—earning him the affectionate nickname “Santa”. His family will also fondly recall his enthusiasm for “bullfrogging” with his brothers, where catching frogs became a lucrative income and a tasty treat.Rest in peace brother with your best friend James, your brother Joe and dad. Until we meet again, forever 9, forever Tom.
