DEATH NOTICE
Mr. John ‘’Happy’’ Hynes formerly from Montréal and Toronto passed away in Hawkesbury on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the age of 88.
He was the son of the late George Mortimer Hynes and of the late Gwendolyn Stapleton;
the loving father of Andrew (Cinda), predeceased by his sons John Jr. and Glenn;
the cherished stepfather of Helen Hawkins;
the dear brother of Gordon (Ginette) and Maureen Madore (Louis);
He will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Wendy and his grandsons Micheal and Christopher.
He was predeceased by two brothers Jim and Ross.
He is survived by Roula Hynes and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Prescott Russell Residence for the excellent care during these last six years.
John, or “Happy” as he was known to close relatives, spent his successful career in the financial industry in Montréal and Toronto. He was very interested in and knowledgeable about Canada’s participation in World War II. He enjoyed watching boxing and his beloved Toronto Blue Jays on TV.
John would tell you the thing he was most proud of was his 40 years of sobriety and his service work in The Program. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to Berthiaume Family Funeral Home 416 McGill, Hawkesbury, Ontario (877) 632-8511, on Saturday July 25th at 9:30 a.m. A celebration will be held in Armande’s Garden outside at 11 a.m.
For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 300-885, Meadowlands Drive East, Ottawa, Ontario, K2C 3N2 and/or the Alzheimer Society, C.P. 1852, Cornwall, Ontario, K6H 6N6 would be appreciated.
