DEATH NOTICE
Mr. Walter Carroll from Hawkesbury passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at the age of 89.
Retired, Royal Insurance of Canada, All Service Leasing, Carroll Auto Leasing.
He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Jocelyne, loving father to Wendy, father-in-law to Don Jung, and cherished grandfather to Owen Jung. He leaves behind his sisters Alice (Edward Palardy, deceased), Geraldine (Ila White, deceased) and Jessie (Charles Kinney, deceased). He is predeceased by his parents Michael Carroll and Emma Saulnier, brother James (Rose-Mai), and sisters Mabel (Vincent Girouard), Kathleen and Alma. He will be remembered fondly by many in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The family thanks the staff at the Hawkesbury General Hospital, including Dr. Roy and the nursing team on the second floor and especially Dr. Eric Laviolette, who provided exceptional care to Walter the past two years and was considered a friend. They also thank family doctor of 23 years, Dr. Jean-Claude Landa, for his support and encouragement.
In life, Walter was a high-level athlete in hockey, baseball and golf, and was passionate about developing youth in sport. He coached hockey for many years in Montreal, and worked with the pro at Hawkesbury Golf and Curling Club to coach the club’s juniors. He was incredibly proud of his grandson’s high achievements in competitive swimming and loved to watch him race.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Berthiaume Funeral Home, 416, McGill Street, Hawkesbury, Ontario, (877) 632-8511.
A funeral service will be held in the privacy of the family.
Those who wish to make a donation in Walter’s memory are asked to consider The Valoris foundation, 173, Old Road 17, C.P. 248, Plantagenet, ON K0B 1L0 or a youth sports charity of their choice.
