DEATH NOTICE
HELEN JOAN BARRON (nee Garland), passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 26, 2024 at the age of 98, just two days shy of her 99th birthday. Joan is survived by her dear children Brian, Kevin (Roberta) and Jennifer, her grandchildren Clara, Simon, Liam, Daphne, Alexa, and Rachel, as well as her great-grandchildren Chloe, Desmond, Soren and Oona. Joan is predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Hal Barron with whom she shared her Iife for 65 wonderful years. We all sorely miss Daphne, Joan’s eldest daughter, Elgin, Joan’s youngest son, and Anna, Brian's dear wife of 42 years, who predeceased her. Joan was the daughter of Richard and Helen Bernice (nee Milway) Garland of Avoca, Quebec, and the younger sister of Father Peter Garland, founding pastor of St Jude’s Catholic Church in Hawkesbury.
Joan was a proud member of St. Jude’s Ladies Association for many decades and was active throughout her life in her community as a volunteer at her children’s schools, the Hawkesbury District Hospital and the Hawkesbury Public Library. Very special thanks go out to Chantal L, Sandra B, Sandra F and Louise A who cared for Joan in the years following Hal's passing, as well as the wonderful team at Maxville Manor who made Joan’s last few years so comfortable.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Berthiaume Family Funeral Home 416 McGill, Hawkesbury, Ontario (877) 632-8511.
