Alan Hobbs (1939-2024)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alan Reginald Hobbs, announce his passing on August 28th, peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 84. Alan will be lovingly remembered by his children, Paul, Caroline and Lisa, his grandchildren Rachel (Jordan), Devon, Riley, Owen, William, Abby and his great granddaughter Noa. He is survived by his loving sisters, Margaret, Betty and Rosemary and predeceased by his brother, Clive and parents Rose and Reginald of Bristol, England.

Alan was born on December 28th, 1939 in Bristol England. At a young age, he developed a love for football that lasted a lifetime. Alan began his competitive football career when he played for the British Royal Air Force (RAF), while working as a Physical Training Instructor. He later played for Bath City and Bristol Rovers. When asked about his early years, Alan would reminisce about his football career and how it allowed him to travel around Europe while playing the game he loved.

In 1974, Alan, his wife Stella and 3 children immigrated to Canada. Throughout his years in Canada, he built a successful career in sales and went on to run his own business. He transitioned from being a football player to becoming an avid golfer. Alan’s greatest accomplishments and happiest moments were with his family. He spent many years cheering his children and grandchildren on in sports. He attended school plays, concerts, recitals and graduations and was always there to carpool or help out. Alan adored his family and he had many valued friendships for many years in both England and in Canada. He was the epitome of kindness, generosity and selflessness and was loved by everyone who knew him.
